Krugersdorp Animal Hospital was established by its founding members in 1942. The practice started out humbly, from an outbuilding attached to a well known pharmacy. Thereafter the premises shifted to Monument street in Krugersdorp CBD. The primary focus was care of domestic pets and livestock herd health. Through the years the practice grew from strength to strength and in 1996 a purpose built hospital was constructed at its current location of 222 Voortrekker Road.

The Directors

Dr Vanessa Walter matriculated in 2002 with distinction. She attended the University of Pretoria where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree with specialisation in Veterinary Biology in 2005. This degree was a pre-requisite for selection into the Bachelor of Veterinary Science Degree, which Vanessa achieved at the end of 2009, when she graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at Onderstepoort. Vanessa joined Krugersdorp Animal Hospital under the partnership of Drs Hudson and Jeffery in January 2010 as a full-time Veterinarian. She had been head hunted by Dr Hudson during her final year of studies, after having spent some time at the hospital during an elective rotation.

In October 2021 we partnered with Companion Healthcare as part of a network of veterinary practices across South Africa.

At Krugersdorp Animal Hospital, we feel more like a family than colleagues. We all love our jobs because we have the best of both worlds, working with animals and with people. Our slogan is “your other family doctor” as we understand how important these furry family members are and we treat them as our own.
